It’s Corn! Saucony’s Plant-Powered Shoe

At John’s Run/Walk Shop, we’re always looking for ways to make more of a positive impact on the environment. So, we were very psyched when we saw that Saucony was releasing a more sustainably produced version of their popular Triumph model. The Triumph RFG (Run For Good) uses plant-based dyes and cushioning made using foam derived of 55% corn.

The PWRRUN BIO+ cushioning is made using 55% corn-based foam to help limit the dependence on plastic. The cotton upper features plant-based dyes for a shoe you can feel good about wearing. The Triumph RFG’s 80% natural rubber outsole is engineered to offer the same level of performance as the synthetic sole it replaces.

How does it compare to the original Triumph? Really well. It’s got the same high cushioning, 37/27 stack height, 10 mm drop, and comfortable upper. Either version of the Triumph works well as a daily trainer for logging lots of miles. If you’re looking for those features in a more environmentally friendly shoe, the Triumph RFG is proof that sustainability doesn't need to sacrifice performance.

Saucony’s Run for Good Standard

To aim for the highest standard in sustainability product construction, Saucony created its Run For Good (RFG) badge. In order to receive this, a product must adhere to the below compositions of organic, recycled or renewable materialization:

• Footwear Upper: 75%

• Footwear Sole: 50%

• Apparel: 50%

Find the Saucony Triumph RFG at John’s Run/Walk Shop in Chevy Chase or Palomar Centre. Or shop local online.
