John’s Run/Walk Shop
A Central Kentucky Staple Since 1978
In 1978, John’s Run/Walk Shop opened its doors to give Central Kentuckians a more convenient place to buy shoes.
And not just any shoes. We want to make sure people are putting the right products on their feet. That’s why we stress expertise and customer service with employees, a focus that started at the beginning of the store and continues to this day.
More than just a store, however, John’s Run/Walk Shop has always been dedicated to supporting and growing the local run/walk community, creating some of the area’s most iconic races, such as the Iron Horse Half Marathon. With the John’s Striders running and walking group, locals have a way to make friends while staying active and exploring downtown Lexington.
Starting in 2002, John's Run/Walk Shop expanded its level of quality and expertise to leather shoes. Now, in addition to serving the needs of the running community, we help keep people comfortable and in style through our line of comfort shoes. We’re proud to carry a variety of footwear that keeps people moving through all areas of life.
John’s Run/Walk Shop has always been a family-run business. So in 2015, when original owner John Sensenig was ready to step back, he made sure to put the shop in trusted hands. Melody Marshall, John’s longtime accountant and a runner since age 12, now owns the business and works to maintain the aspects of the store that have made it a staple of the Lexington community.
Carrying on decades of tradition, Melody remains dedicated to community outreach and making Central Kentucky a healthier, more runner-friendly place.
