Liberty Road Trail
The Liberty Road Trail is a little over a mile-long trail that can be used to hook up to the Brighton Rail Trail. Go out and back from the start of the Liberty Park Trial to the end of the Brighton Rail Trail, and you’ll have about a 6.5-mile run. The trail is in a pretty active neighborhood so be prepared to share the trail with other runners, walkers, kids on bikes, and dogs on leashes.
Parking at the trailhead is street parking around the corner of Flying Ebony and Princess Doreen (behind Liberty Elementary off of Starshoot). You’ll see the post and the trail rules sign.
The trail starts off with some small hills – very small by Lexington standards. You’ll run along Flying Ebony and then take a slight right to run between a small section of black fence.
Staying to the left, you’ll travel between Liberty Elementary and a community pool. You’ll go under a bridge (Starshoot Parkway) and make your way alongside Liberty Road.
You’ll come to a significant hill. It doesn’t look that bad from the bottom, but it is a nice, extended climb. The trail ends right at the top and then you get to run back down. If you need additional distance, you can do repeats of this hill.
Option for additional distance:
At the end of the trail, you can cross Man O War and turn left, from there you can pick up the Brighton Rail Trail on the right just before you get to Liquor Barn.
